September housing seminars at St Michaels for the over 55s

During September 2013 we are hosting a series of three seminars by COTA (WA) on housing options for the over 55s.  These seminars are part of the Seniors Housing Project, run jointly by COTA and the Department of Commerce (Consumer Protection) branch.  The seminars are free, and morning tea is provided.  To register for any or all of these seminars, please ring COTA on 9321 2133 or register online at www.cotawa.org.au.

The following seminars will be held:

Making Informed Housing Decisions (Thurs 5 Sept, 10am to 11.30am) - An overview of the housing options available for Seniors, covering key questions and the information to ask for while contemplating changes.  Some of the areas covered are retirement villages, strata titles, granny flats, home modifications, residential aged care and more.  This general overview imparts the perspective to start looking at accommodation in terms of not only the structure in its present form, but accessibility and future needs, age friendly neighbourhoods, and so forth.

Modifying Your Home (Thurs 12 Sept, 10am to 11.30am) – An overview of the range of services aimed at helping Seniors stay in their homes for longer… ranging from home modifications and improvements, accessing carers and helpers, to new and exciting technologies that can improve your quality of life.

Low Cost Housing Options (Thurs 19 Sept, 10am to 11.30am) – this seminar looks at some of the options available to Seniors seeking low cost housing solutions, ranging from Community and Affordable Housing, to Residential Parks, Boarding and Lodging, and forming new sharing agreements.
